Bedford Bicycle Advisory Committee
unapproved (un-approvable, no quorum present)
July 9, 2008, 7:30pm, Town Hall, Bedford, MA
Present: Terry Gleason, Joel Parks, Brian O'Donnell, Mark Siegenthaler, Charlie Webster and Holly Webster
Apparently this meeting was not posted and we did not have a quorum of members, so these are unofficial notes of discussion. Holly said that she would post the meetings for the remainder of the year.

Mark reported that the Transportation Committee is being reorganized to include Pedestrian Interests, Bicycle Interests, Commercial Interests, Planning Board Interests, Selectmen's Interests and two members at Large. A meeting of this new committee will be called in early September, and will be charged, among other things of cooperating with the TMA (Transportation Management Association). Our Committee will wait and see how this reorganized committee takes off before we reconsider our charge and reasons for continuing. It has been reported that it is not a good idea for our members to also be the chief members of the Friends of the BBAC. Naturally, we would prefer to have a large Friends organization without our board members being a part of it but the people are not forthcoming.
-
Mark also reported that the Selectmen are in favor of 11' lanes. Rich Warrington is on vacation right now but he is going to talk to Mass Highway and he will find out before the fog lines are repainted.
-
We, as the BBAC need to request by letter to the Selectmen exactly what it is that Bob and our committee need from the police report. We would also like to know why the police report is not public and therefore available to Bob.

Joel brought the application for the new bike stands and is involved with filling it out and retyping it. Terry will email Lexington and Arlington to find out who provided their stands and their prices and their installation costs, get these answers to Joel who will then get the application in before the due date. Brian will also let Joel know of a few other things he might need on the application.
-
Terry will email each of us with our assignments for the Trail Count next Tuesday.
-
Joel plans to attend the meeting Wednesday, July 16th, in the Arlington Town Hall annex to plan the celebration that will honor the Minuteman Bikeway into the hall of fame. The meeting will be held in September or October. Perhaps we could get the Selectmen to want to promote this. We need a "Rails-to-Trails" banner. Maybe Jack Johnson, who is the webmaster for the Minuteman Bikeway organization, can get access to one.
-
Terry had a map that he wants to adapt showing bicycle connections to other bike trails and it would like it to be posted in the towns kiosks on various walking trails.
Next Meeting for the BBAC is Wednesday Aug 13, 2008, 7:30pm at the Town Hall.
Meeting adjourned at 9:25pm.
