Bedford Bicycle Advisory Committee

Present: Ralph Hammond, Terry Gleason, Bob Sawyer, Joel Parks, Charlie Webster, and Holly Webster

There was some discussion between Joel, Terry, and Bob about the process of getting along with the plans for the Minuteman Extension. Terry had some different models from the example of the Bruce Freeman Trail. He told us of an upcoming meeting in Sudbury for the Bruce Freeman Trail in March where George Batchelor of Mass Highway will speak on different possible surfaces for bike trails. He will let us know just when and where the meeting will be, but we can google Bruce Freeman and find out for ourselves.

The minutes from January were approved. Bob asked that I make the margins bigger. Someone suggested that I just e-mail the minutes to Joel for putting on our web site. I have made the margins bigger and will continue to e-mail them to all the members of our committee.

Continuing:

• Boardwalk Washington Street to Middle School -
  No action yet. The DPW must survey the area and mark the actual boundaries.
• Safe Routes to School - Transportation Committee -
  No action yet.
• Police Accident Report -
  Bob reported that there were no accidents involving bicycles in either December or January. We feel that Mark Siegenthaler, as liaison to the Selectmen, should be able to get statistics on how often EMTs are called to the Minuteman Trail, and that names, only, could be removed from their report because of privacy.
• New member candidates -
  There are none. Terry is not interested at this time as he has other projects with priority.

Continuing:

• Annual Report to the State -
  Don is not here. Again Joel wonders why Ray keeps this on the agenda. Perhaps just to ensure that the reports were indeed sent in.
• Annual Meeting - April 11 -
  Although we plan nothing special, we will indeed have cookies and juice.
• Newsletter -
  Joel feels that Ray has a list of possible articles and should feel at ease about assigning articles to committee members for inclusion.

• No new business
