Bedford Bicycle Advisory Committee
(approved 2007 Feb 21)
Jan. 10, 2007
Present: Joel Parks, Bob Sawyer, Don Blake, Ralph Hammond, Rich Warrington, Ray Ruetenick, and Holly Webster
7:35m. Meeting called to order. We postponed approving both sets of minutes to take advantage of Rich's presence.
Continuing:
-
CRW bike rack installation -
Rich would like to get on with this but feels that perhaps we should wait until the construction at the Freight House has been completed. He drew a rough sketch on the board and we agreed that the best place for the racks is in the rear near the entrances to the rest rooms.
-
Selectmen MMB - Extension -
The meeting room has been reserved. Joel is working on the agenda, presentation, attendance, and notice. He will contact Ben Aaronson to see about getting it announced in the Bedford Minuteman. Joel will phone Rich Warrington tomorrow to set up a meeting for Friday to work together on the presentation at the DPW building. We should provide a sign-up sheet that night. Ralph will try to get access to a short favorable DVD that was used at the last Bruce Freeman trail meeting. Joel will contact Kim Barber, access person of the Bedford Cable to invite them to film the meeting. Bob will contact Stu Kennedy from the Bruce Freeman Committee to ask that he and the rest of the committee attend. Joel will contact some Arlington folks to see if we can get some positive info from abutters.
-
Concord Road Daycare Center - Access to MMB-ext -
Rich says that they are a learning center not a daycare and they do not want access from the rear.
-
Boardwalk Washington St. to Middle School -
Nat Brown agreement, next phase? -
We would like to hand this project over to the Trails Committee to which Bob will be the liaison.
-
Safe routes to school -
Trans. Comm. Interest, State program for town property bike racks -
The Transportation Committee has not yet met that Bob knows about. Susan Grieb, of the Trails Committee, is pursuing the town properties for recommendations for state funded bike racks.
-
Road Hazards -
Rich will speak to the contractor about being more careful about replacing trash barrels and recycling bins.
-
Police Accident Report -
Bob reported that there were none this past month. Holly's letter met with some suggestions from Joel and has not yet sent it. Bob feels strongly and will compose his own letter for our next meeting. Joel suggests writing at least four letters to the Minuteman annually, about bicycle issues and this one of Bob's might be the first.
-
New Member Candidates -
There are none at this point.
New:
Next scheduled meeting - Feb. 14, 7:30pm, Town Hall

Don will do this later this month, although there are no specific requirements as to when it is due.

-

Don reported that the current balance is $915.04. This includes the $150 for the CRW bike racks. We will add to the amount so that we can have two installed when the work is actually done.
