Joel will talk to the DPW again. As of now, the town does not have the official plans and Rich Warrington does not expect to see them until construction has been completed. Joel asked Matt to follow through on this matter with the Mass Highway Dept. Joel mentioned the Burlington Multi-Community Bicycle and Pedestrian Greenway Initiative which hasn't been mentioned since June 2000. The July minutes were approved. Continuing: 1. Youth biking issues - Joel has changed his mind on beginning a joint series with the recreation department as it would require too many hours. As he has already been certified as a bicycle driver education instructor with LAB which already has recognized credentials, he would prefer following through with this alternative. 2. Concord Rd. parking area - Rich Warrington told Joel on Thursday that Rotary members need to meet with him at the site to develop a solid plan that has Rich's approval which they can then present to the selectmen. 3. West bikeway - Joel read a report from Ray who will continue to work on this issue. 4. Depot Park - According to Rich Warrington, the plans have been completed. The solution may not be entirely satisfactory but some reconstruction is possible later. 5. NGRT - (Tabled till fall) 6. Bridge Street path - Joel read a report from Ray. A title search needs to be funded and as money is tight, this will not be done at this time. Word is that cyclists can go ahead and use it as they have been. Joel is trying to at least get some brush cleared away. 7. DPW items: A. Signage - Rich W. wants to get started. Joel has regiven him the first priority signage list. B. Rich has said he would scrape and drag the West bikeway. C. Rich said that clearing vegetables for the NGRT is on his regular maintenance list. 8. Bike Parking ATM article - Joel is continuing to work on this. 9. Sidewalk passability - The state has said it would approve our article but it needs to be amended because the fine involved for non-compliance in not adequately defined. 10. Web site - Joel is working on this. New: 1. East-Bedford Industrial area - See the start of these minutes for this discussion. Next meeting: Sept. 18(note: this is the 3rd Wed.), 7:30, Town Hall, Multipurpose room Meeting adjourned at 8:35. Friends of the Minuteman Bikeway Continuing: 1. Bedford bike tour ala Arlington - As Bob is not here, this has been tabled. 2. Bedford day (9/21) - Joel will run the corral. Friends will also participate in the parade and have a booth but the location of the latter has not yet been assigned. New: 1. Joel will E-mail Matthew and Jeremy about joining the friends. Meeting adjourned at 8:38. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? HotJobs - Search Thousands of New Jobs http://www.hotjobs.com
